Leadville Marathon Weekend

Leadville Marathon went fine.  Goal was sub 4:30 and finished 4:25.  Popped out of the gate a bit hot and was taxed from the get-go, and at elevation it's tough to regroup.  First hour of the run sucked but then started clicking.  Ran the second half faster than all Leadman folks other than the first two.  Just didn't manage the start well.  For a fairly mediocre run I'll take it (but was still pretty disappointed).  Got up this morning and did a group ride on the first 1/3 of the 100 mile MTB course.  3 hours, 31 miles, and 4,900 ft climb.  Felt good to loosen up the stiff legs from all the fast descending yesterday.  Finished June with 56 hours and 81,500 ft climb.  Had a great time hanging out with Brandon and his family over the weekend and will take credit for his 20 min PR at the marathon simply through osmosis.

  1. Let's just see what you can do for me on the big day in August then. I need to put this big buckle fantasy to bed.

  2. Nice run to kick it off. Keep that gap within an hour. Do you need a bicycle bell for the next race? I can try to find a carbon bell.

  3. Great run, well done even though not your best form. I battle to get going lately and never feel good for at least 40min to the first hour.

  4. We all feel "off" for a few miles of a race, you just used this race off race to get the body warmed for the next ones so you can nail those (with an extra 5 minutes banked). Great job out there...and great June numbers. You got this!
